78º Congreso de la Comisión Internacional para el Estudio de la Historia de las Instituciones Representativas y Parlamentarias (ICHRPI)

El congreso se organizará en el marco de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y gracias a la colaboración del Parlamento de Cataluña, el Departamento de Humanidades de la UPF, el Observatorio Europeo de Memorias (EUROM), el Instituto de Historia Jaume Vicens Vives (IUHJVV) y la Sociedad Catalana de Estudios Históricos del Instituto de Estudios Catalanes (SCEH/IEC).
En este sentido, se invita a todos los investigadores e investigadoras del área a presentar sus propuestas de comunicación. Las lenguas del congreso serán: catalán, castellano, inglés, francés y alemán.
Ejes de discusión:
1) Las instituciones parlamentarias y representativas desde las asambleas de paz y tregua hasta las cortes en el marco de la Corona de Aragón.
2) Las instituciones parlamentarias y representativas desde la Edad Media hasta el día de hoy. Ciudades, Estados, Naciones, Imperios, Colonias y organizaciones supranacionales.
3) Las instituciones parlamentarias y representativas en contextos extraordinarios. Crisis, guerras, exilios, revueltas y revoluciones.
4) Las actrices y actores de la vida parlamentaria y de las asambleas representativas: biografía, prosopografía, sociología, partidos políticos, agrupaciones y confluencias.
5) Procedimientos, trabajo parlamentario y funcionamiento de la asamblea. Proyección exterior, transparencia y corrupción en el marco de las instituciones parlamentarias y representativas.
6) Las Instituciones parlamentarias y representativas frente a los otros poderes (ejecutivo, judicial, económico, religioso y mediático).
7) Instituciones parlamentarias y representativas. Políticas de Memoria, relatos contemporáneos en combate y (des)memorias.
8) Parlamentarismo y antiparlamentarismo. Discursos parlamentarios y relatos de odio
Presentación de las comunicaciones y plazos:
Las propuestas no tienen que superar las 200 palabras en cualquiera de las lenguas oficiales del congreso, y deben enviarse antes del 30 de abril de 2026 a la dirección: conference.ichrpi2026@upf.edu
La aceptación de las comunicaciones se notificará antes del 31 de mayo de 2026.
El programa del congreso se publicará el 7 de junio de 2026.
Precios de la Inscripción:
- 100 euros: para miembros de la ICHRPI, la UPF y estudiantes de grado y posgrado
- 150 euros: para el resto de participantes
- 80 euros: para acompañantes

78th Conference of the International Commission for the History of Representative and Parliamentary Institutions (ICHRPI)

INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS
We are pleased to inform you that the 78th Conference of the International Commission for the History of Representative and Parliamentary Institutions (ICHRPI) will take place in Barcelona from 1 to 4 September 2026. The conference will be organized within the framework of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and thanks to the invaluable collaboration of the Parliament of Catalonia, the Department of Humanities of the Pompeu Fabra University, the European Observatory on Memories (EUROM) of the Fundació Solidaritat UB, the Jaume Vicens Vives Institute of History (IUHJVV), and the Catalan Society for Historical Studies of the Institute for Catalan Studies (SCEH/IEC).
In this regard, we invite all researchers in the field to present their paper proposals. The languages of the conference will be: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, and German.
Conference themes:
1) Parliamentary and representative institutions. From the peace and truce assemblies to the cortes of the Crown of Aragon.
2) Parliamentary and representative institutions. From the Middle Ages to the present day. Cities, states, nations, empires, colonies and supranational organizations.
3) Parliamentary and Representative Institutions in extraordinary contexts: Crises, wars, revolts, and revolutions.
4) The actors of parliamentary life and representative assemblies: biography, prosopography, sociology, political parties, groupings and convergences.
5) Procedures, parliamentary work and functioning of the assembly. External projection, transparency and corruption within parliamentary and representative institutions.
6) Parliamentary and representative institutions versus other powers (executive, judicial, economic, religious and media).
7) Parliamentary and representative institutions. Memory policies, conflicting contemporary narratives and (dis)memories.
8) Parliamentarism and Anti-Parliamentarism. Parliamentary speeches and hate speech.
Submission deadline for presenting papers to the conference:
Abstracts of no more than 200 words, in English, French, German, Catalan or Spanish, referring to one of the themes proposed, should be submitted by 30 April 2026 to conference.ichrpi2026@upf.edu.
Notification of the acceptance of papers will be made by 31 May 2026.
The conference programme will be published by 7 June 2026.
Conference fees
– 100 euros for members of the ICHRPI, of the UPF and for degree and postgraduate students
– 150 euros for other scholars
– 80 euros for accompanying partners
We encourage all participants to become ICHRPI members to benefit from a better rate and receive the Parliaments, Estates and Representation journal for a year.
